"Foundraising" Fund
To commemorate our 50th Anniversary Conference in March 2023, the "Foundraising" campaign was unveiled with a goal of $100,000 to support student scholarship and travel to the annual AAS Conference for years to come.

As a society, our primary mission is to promote the translation of scientific discovery to clinical practice in hearing and balance disorders through multi-disciplinary interaction among our members. The current scientific and funding climate in the United States will limit the ability of our members to fully participate in our society’s main venue for sharing groundbreaking scientific discoveries – our annual conference. Specifically, students, residents, and new investigators are particularly vulnerable due to changes in NIH/NIDCD funding priorities that have led to the termination of more than 800 grants and a disruption in the grant review process, which will likely impact the scientific and academic community and the training of the next generation of scientists.

The AAS Board is addressing this need by expanding the travel awards to the 2026 conference to 5 additional travel awards to students, residents, and new investigators at a rate of $1500/award. The Fundraising Committee is kindly appealing to the membership to match the society’s commitment with a contribution to the Foundraising Fund for a total of 10 additional travel awards.

We hope that you share our concern for the future of our collective discipline to transform hearing and balance healthcare through novel scientific discovery via academic research and multidisciplinary interaction among members in clinical care, research, engineering, and industry.
