The American Auditory Society (AAS) is a multidisciplinary organization composed of individuals whose professional work is dedicated to the ear, hearing, and balance. The mission of the Society is to foster the dissemination of knowledge and exchange of information among these professionals. The Society’s specific goals are to increase knowledge and understanding of:

  • The ear, hearing, and balance;
  • Disorders of the ear, hearing, and balance, and preventions of these disorders; and,
  • Habilitation and rehabilitation of individuals with hearing and balance dysfunction.

The meeting will be held March 6-8, 2008
and will feature the following distinguished events:

MENTORED STUDENT RESEARCH POSTER SESSION
Description and Eligibility Statement

A special poster session is art of the program for the annual American Auditory Society meeting!

The purpose of this session is to: recognize and promote doctoral student research in the fields of audiology, hearing science, otolaryngology and biomedical engineering. This AAS special session will provide a unique opportunity for doctoral students to get individualized input from peers and mentoring scientists in the context of a multi-disciplinary, small meeting environment. Our goal is to encourage students to pursue careers in research, to promote their excitement about science and to provide a sense of belonging to the larger scientific community of hearing scientists.

Eligibility: Full-time students enrolled in a research doctoral program in Audiology, hearing science, biomedical engineering, or other fields involved in the study of hearing and balance.

Travel Awards: Funding is available to underwrite registration fees, travel, food, and housing for up to 15 students. These awards will be given on a competitive basis as judged by abstract submission and mentor's supporting letter.
