  
Mentored Student Research Poster Session
Submission Information
Deadline: December 9, 2011
Annual Meeting March 8-10, 2012
Scottsdale, AZ
You will be asked
to provide the following information on the online Call for Papers Forms.
We recommend that you have compiled all the following information prior
to going to the forms to submit your proposal.
A. Title of proposal (not to exceed 10 words)
B. Contact person’s name, address, phone, fax,
and email. The contact person will receive all correspondence regarding
the proposal and is responsible for notifying all authors of the status
of the proposal. The contact person is also responsible for serving as the
liaison with AAS for the paper.
C. Abstract or proposal (not to exceed 200 words—no
graphs or tables). Prepare your abstract carefully. It will be published
in the AAS Web Site, the AAS Bulletin, and in the Meeting Program.
D. 500 word summary of the study. Clearly state the
rationale for the study and the research question(s), describe the methodology,
and summarize the results and their implications.
E. A Letter of Support must be submitted by the student's
mentor.
F. Indicate the focus of the proposal:
- Auditory Processes in Children
- Diagnostic Audiology
- Speech Perception
- Medical Issues
- Hearing Aids: New Technology
- Hearing Aids: Evaluation and Outcome
- Cochlear Implants
- Hearing Science
- Audiology/Vestibular Disorders
- Other—Describe
G. Learner Outcomes. Describe the skills, knowledge
and/or attitudes that participants will be able to demonstrate after this
session. "Participants will be able to:…"
H. Poster Boards will be available (standard size -
4x6). Please refer to the Poster Guidelines
for help.
I. Brief Biographical Sketch. Please provide a brief
biographical sketch for each presenter and for the Mentor.
J. Author Information. You will need to enter the name,
affiliation, city, and state for each author, as well as indicate if they
are an AAS member, nonmember, or student/resident. Reenter information regarding
the contact person if that individual is also an author.
K. Evaluation Criteria:
- Rationale for the study
- Clarity of research question(s)
- Strength of research design and methodology
- Description and analysis of the data and their implications
- Overall clarity of proposal
- Relevance of the study to AAS members
- Letter of Support from University mentor
L. When submitted, you will be directed to a printable
confirmation page that summarizes your proposal and provides the date and
time. PLEASE PRINT AND KEEP A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS and refer to it in any
correspondence with AAS regarding your submission.
